n an effort to improve its back office HR operations and gain access to new HR tools and capabilities, E.W. Scripps made a strong internal business case for outsourcing.

Results from a new Everest Research Institute survey reveal that more than 85 percent of the key executives surveyed believe that company-owned offshoring operations in India, known as “captives,” are delivering on cost savings and service expectations despite contrary opinions.

One key conclusion from the study is that there is a direct correlation between the investment organizations make in Outsourcing Management and Governance (OM/G), and outsourcing engagement satisfaction.

Earlier this year, the SBPOA supported by EDS commissioned a survey into continuing trends in the HR transformation arena as more and more companies shape up to the challenges of making HR strategic. Over 200 organisations took part in this years survey with many different sectors of industry contributing to the findings. This summary is the preliminary report from the survey highlighting key issues and trends from the report and offers the reader an opportunity to reflect on the key messages for your own organisation.

Eighty percent of organizations will outsource at least one function by 2005, according to research by META Group, Inc., a leading provider of information technology (IT) research, advisory services, and strategic consulting. While 70% of that group will renew their outsourcing contracts, many will reduce both the scope and the duration of the original agreement.

Recognizing that finance and accounting are at the heart of the way an organization is run, a small but growing minority of companies are outsourcing these functions—not simply to reduce costs but as a way to achieve transformational change. Here is how three of them did it.
