IBM plans to have remote off-site consulting service in India from 2006.

IBM has plans to start offshore consulting services from India in 2006. Through these facilities, IBM will provide implementation of solutions like SAP configuration to their International clients.
IBM Global provides application-related outsourcing services with more than 50,000 professionals in over 30 countries. IBM has four hubs outside USA - one each in India, Japan, China and Israel. The hub in India is the largest of them all. IBM employed a total of 23,000 professionals in 2004, which was the second largest after US.
In related news, IBM today announced the launch of three new outsourcing delivery centers in India - one each in Pune, Chandigarh and Kolkata - with a total capacity of 2,100 seats.
These are business transformation outsourcing (BTO) centers, which will be catering to the domestic and the international markets. They will specialize in the hi-tech, insurance and telecom domains, and will provide both data and voice services,” Aggarwal said.
