Shared Services in the Danish Ministry of Employment
Since 2005 administrative services within the area of the Danish Ministry of Employment are operated by BAC (Beskaeftigelsesministeriets AdministrationCenter). 110 experts at BAC serve about 4,000 people at the Ministry of Employment with regards to operation/development/consultancy as well as management.
BAC was founded to
• Operate and develop administrative services within the area of the Danish Ministry of Employment
• Ensure stable operation, provide advice and develop systems and processes within:
– Administration
– Procurement and tender procedures
– Reporting, management information and consultancy
Objectives
• Professionalize management of tasks in order to achieve a high level of quality and less vulnerability as regards personnel
• Improve efficiency of administrative functions by 15 % from 2005-2007
• Take on new tasks and deliver new services
Achievements
BAC has been able to guarantee a secure and stable operation, says Jan Nielsen, Director General of BAC. About half of the goal of improving efficiency by 15 % has already been achieved by October 2006. Further on BAC has a good image and excellent cooperation at all levels.
