Alcatel-Lucent and Convergys have signed a multi-year, non-exclusive agreement to integrate Convergys’ Infinys applications into Alcatel-Lucent’s Business Support System (BSS). The resulting billing solution combines Convergys’ and Alcatel-Lucent’s leading product portfolios to give service providers a single BSS solution.

The deal strengthens Alcatel-Lucent’s BSS by incorporating Convergys’ Infinys applications and extends Alcatel-Lucent’s portfolio of partners, providing pre-integrated solutions that simplify integration and deployment. The pre-integrated billing, rating, and customer care solution helps reduce operating costs, improve the customer experience, and increase customer spend while helping to reduce churn. Convergys in turn will benefit from the global presence of Alcatel-Lucent in extending the available market reach of Infinys.

“This partnership provides a key element of the converged BSS solution addressing service provider needs to improve business operations, with a single business software system that supports different payment methods, different services (voice, multi-media, blended lifestyle services), along with the evolution to fixed mobile convergence,” said Jean-Pierre Gaillat, Alcatel-Lucent’s VP of the global OSS/BSS and Software Integration Professional Services Practice.

“Alcatel-Lucent’s highly flexible rating and charging product capabilities and open interfaces complement Convergys’ applications for prepaid and postpaid offers,” said Joelle Gauthier, Alcatel-Lucent’s VP Convergent Payment Solutions.

“This reseller agreement breaks new ground for Convergys,” said Bob Lento, president information management at Convergys. “By working with Alcatel-Lucent, we are extending our business model to enable more operators to benefit from the fully convergent pre- and postpaid capabilities of Infinys. It also allows us to extend our distribution reach into new geographies and markets. We have been working closely with Alcatel-Lucent for some time on this solution and are delighted with the progress we have jointly achieved in terms of client interest and active proposals.”
